Press Release
Spinning off the “Misadventures of the Adam West” series comes an all new adventure series called “The Curse of the Mumy”, staring Bill Mumy from “Lost in Space”, “Twilight Zone” and “Babylon 5” fame.
Actors bring characters to life. But what if those characters REALLY came to life? Join us as we journey through a supernatural-sci fi-secret political world brought to you by iconic actor-musician Bill Mumy. Set in modern reality prime, “The Curse of the Mumy” has a decidedly Golden Age style applied to character driven universe-threatening conflicts.
Mumy best known for his roles in classic TV and films like “The Twilight Zone”, “Lost in Space”, “Babylon 5”, “Star Trek DS9” and “Bless the Beasts and Children” as well as his decades of musical projects which include Barnes & Barnes’ “Fish Heads”, brings us into a mystical world where he is both blessed and cursed. There is a heavy price to pay for becoming someone else. “The Curse of the Mumy”. Monthly. Created and written by Bill Mumy.
“What I set out to do sounds complicated, but it actually was quite easy. Being a fan of almost every era of comic books, I set out to write a character driven book that told a story in a silver age tone, with an early golden age style of artwork that was dressed in a modern sense of political awareness and humor,’ said Mumy
“Having been a fan of “Lost in Space” when I was a kid and a big fan of “Babylon 5″ as an adult, collaborating with Bill Mumy has been an honor on top of being a lot of fun and a personal milestone.” Said artist Ron Stewart.
No stranger to writing comic books, Mumy has co-created characters for Marvel, “The Comet Man”, “The Dreamwalker” as well as written iconic characters such as Spider-man, Iron Man, The Hulk, She-Hulk, Fantastic Four, Nick Fury, Wonder Man and others in Marvel’s library as well as writing DC’s, The Spectre, Aquaman, The Green Lantern (Alan Scott) the Flash (Jay Garrick) and the “classic” Star Trek. For Epic he wrote for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser and for Dark Horse his run on his character, Trypto the Acid Dog has recently been collected as a graphic novel. But it is perhaps his two year run on Innovation’s “Lost in Space”, the classic 60’s television series he starred in as a boy that his writing is best remembered. “Voyage to the Bottom of the Soul”, Mumy’s epic 360 page Lost in Space Graphic Novel is now a highly sought after collector’s piece.
“Working with icons such as Adam West, Julie Newmar Dirk Benedict and now Bill Mumy is an exciting ride for me personally and professionally. We have created a brand new universe that will all come to a head in the upcoming “Misadventures of Adam West” #10. We will also be introducing even more people to this new universe.” Said publisher Darren G. Davis.
The book is edited by Warren Montgomery and colored by Miguele Caraballo.
“Curse of the Mumy” may be purchased in print exclusively at Comic Flea Market (comicfleamarket.com) for $3.99. Digital copies will also be available. Download the comic to your e-reader from iTunes, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, ComiXology, DriveThru Comics, Wowio, iVerse, and more.
