Press Release
Hermes Press adds the Eisner Award nominated title Scratch9, written by Rob M. Worley, to its list of dynamite features! The world’s greatest superhero cat returns with all new adventures! The all ages title featuring Scratch, a curious cat who gets lost, must summon his nine lives to aid him in rescuing pets from the C.R.U.E.L. Corporation.
Scratch9 will also be featured as a Hermes Press Free Comic Book Day title! Here’s what Rob M. Worley, the creator of Scratch9 had to say:
“I thought I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Scratch9 join Hermes Press and their slate of high quality books,” Worley said. “Then they told me they would reintroduce my super cat buddy to young readers as a Free Comic Book Day selection and, what do you know, I am more thrilled!”
Scratch9 debuted in 2010 to considerable acclaim. It was nominated for numerous awards, including the Will Eisner Comics Industry Award in the Best Publication for Kids category. It was also named one of School Library Journal’s top graphic novels in 2010.
“Scratch9 is a fantastic feature and is clearly in the tradition of the great cartoons and strips created by Hanna Barbera,” observed Publisher Daniel Herman. “As Scratch9 has been on hiatus I thought we’d reacquaint fans with Scratch and rev up interest in the series by offering a recap of issue #1 for Free Comic Book Day.”
Following the FCBD edition comes the all-new Scratch9: Nine Tails series which teams Worley with nine different creators to tells solo adventures of our super-cat’s nine lives. Joining Worley are such creative voices as Shane Houghton, Chris Houghton, Armand Villavert, Jr, Shannon Eric Denton and many more.
Look for Scratch9 on Free Comic Book Day, Saturday, May 4, 2013.
