Most of the time I get the unfortunate job of driving. But, on the rare occasion I don’t then I usually try to read or watch a movie. When I was flying a bit more I would read comics while waiting for the plane to take off and watch a movie while in the air. That made some long trips a lot shorter.
When the trip is just my wife and I, I’m almost always the one driving, and I usually listen to podcasts while driving (our honeymoon drive involved a lot of Major Spoilers Podcasts).
When we’re going with other family it’s a fairly even split between goofing off on my phone, playing video games and reading comic books on my tablet (thanks Comixology!)
I usually read and listen to music at the same time.
Of course listening to Podcasts and Audiobooks.
I listen to podcasts mostly, like MSP family, and the frogpants family of podcasts
I listen to music, and if I’m on a bus ride, I usually have a couple of episodes of Major Spoilers to listen to- and giggle at hysterically!
My journeys consist of tea, classic rock, and Major Spoilers.
Had to go with “Other” because “Music” didn’t really cover “Podcasts.”
For the most part, I play video games or read. I have frequent trips to doctors/specialists (sometimes several in the same week) that are a several hour drive just to get there and playing a game or reading helps me stay awake to talk to whoever is driving.
Guys,
I do all of these. When I am not driving and the trip is long (over 3 hours), I tend to play some games on the laptop, then read usually falling asleep shortly into my comic or book. I also listen to podcasts, audiobooks or music on the Ipod or prep game stuff for an upcoming AD&D session. Basically to keep from going crazy in the car, I have to have a lot of options. So to sum up, I chose “other”.
PS: check the grammar on the question, it should be “How do…”, not “How to…”
I play the major spoilers, critical hit, or top five podcasts
You should check out Munchkinland. Its pretty good, although Rob knows everything and does everything
A friend and I just completed our annual Ren Fair trip and we occupied the three hours while she was awake talking. While she slept I found myself singing various songs to see if I could remember all the lyrics. Fallout 3 has given me most of ‘I don’t want to set the world on fire.’ Since talking and singing were not choices, I had to pick other.
I tend to do a lot of the driving in my various travels. If I’m alone in the vehicle, I’ll listen to podcasts and audiobooks, but if others are in the car, we’ll turn on some random music for background noise while we talk.
I listen to my favorite podcasts like Critical Hit and Top Five!
Bashing my head against the plane’s window, wondering why I’m leaving the comfort of my house, wasting my vacations and spending money to bring gifts to family members I would gladly kill for free…
Not that I’m bitter or anything.
Last time I listened to Hitchhikers guide on mp3, rather fun, also saw “Lie to M”e season one on the plane.
When it comes to driving with my wife and son all I concentrate on is arriving alive. But when we fly, which happens every other summer, I listen to music and/or read. Hopefully in the near future when the boy invents teleportation it none of it will be an issue anymore.
Podcasts, how else? Major Spoilers, Nerdist, & Slate are my Big Three Networks
I am the one driving my wife hates to drive while i’m in the car. We usually listen to podcast I have until the kids get cranky then its Radio Disney.
On a typical flight, I can pretty much devour an entire book in one sitting. I tend to read a lot… A lot a lot.
I listen to podcasts if I’m driving otherwise its a split between reading books or comics and playing games
If I’m a trip that is that long that I am likely to be doing one or more of the choices, although not at the same time. I would also spend time talking to my wife or who ever else is with me.
When I’m not the one driving then I’ll usually grab a few trades to read, (usually C.O.I.E. and Kingdom Come). I’ll also make sure I’ve got some games loaded onto my iPhone just in case.
I also write, especially when I’m on the train. In my years commuting into NYC, I’ve written four graphic novels, a prose novel, numerous short stories, and hundreds of blog posts.
If I’m travelling alone, it’s whatever podcast I’m listening to at that moment. If I’m with my girlfriend, it’s Critical Hit, so she can get caught up.
I listen to podcasts.
I used to listen to audiobooks and radio plays, but I’m now obsessive about listening to podcasts while traveling (alone, anyway).
