Every year, when we run the Major Spoilers Costume Contest, I get a little nervous that there won’t be anyone that enters. Once again the cosplay community has come to life and entered, and entered and entered, each trying to get their hands on the coveted prizes we’re giving away this year.
Before the finalists are announced, and the voting starts, it’s time to take a look at all the great entrants for 2012.
So many great costumes this year! We’ll announce the semifinalists on Tuesday, with voting kicking off on October 24, 2012.

Wow. There are a lot of amazing costumes this year. Trying to choose from these is going to be hard.
I concur! This is going to be fun.
Kudos to the guy with the Adam West “Batman” movie version of the Riddler complete with the “Total Dehydrator” from the movie plot. Right up there with “Bat Shark Repellant”.
Yeah, the “Total Dehydrator” on his back took the costume from “Nice” to “NICE!” (The second is best read in an excited Matthew voice.)
I second that wow. Let the votting dance begin.
Excellent group this year! Glad to see this contest continues to grow. Kudos to all of the contestants. Well done!
Aw man! So many good costumes this year! I don’t envy you guys having to chose the winners. It’s going to be tough to narrow these down!
Tell me someone else noticed the guy behind Emma Frost?
Good luck narrowing this down.
Actually I thought the Hobgoblin was pretty well done. Loved seeing some more rare characters like Superman/Batman combo, Axe Cop, and Doctor Who. Also, the superman looking down felt very poignant . Also, the Captain America looked very professionally crafted as did Ultron.
Holy crap! SO MANY AMAZING ENTRIES THIS YEAR! I do not envy the people who have to narrow these down to 5!
Wow, There are some amazing costumes out there.
Morpheus11: I am sure the guy behind Emma is enjoying the view.
Patrick: I also liked the rare costumes. A few people said “What unusual character can I come up with?”
I thought the “Aquawoman” was fun. The costume seemed to be well designed and the choice of background was great.
I think the guy behind Emma Frost is Patrick Warburton :)
AquaLady here,
Thank you! It turned out to be one of my favorite costumes I’ve done and it’s nice to know that others life it too! =D
*like it too, I have no idea how one lifes something.
Man there is a lot of awesome entries. Just gonna be a real close call is all I can say.
Some very nice work!
My top 3: Kilowog, Black Orchid and Ultron.
Don’t rule out Captain Cold–that is the character, body language, and costume down to a T…
I do *not* envy you guys job to narrow this down, there are some great costumes this year again.
Captain America for example, looks like someone stole the suit from the movie set for Pete’s sake!
the female Vincent costume is a great idea too, really tough call on picking the top 10 or whatever you guys decide to narrow this down to.
Who is the couple with the child supposed to be?
Captain Proton and Queen Arachnia
Top 3:
Dr. Strange
Demo-Goblin (I think that’s the orange hobgoblin guy)
Jocasta
I picked them because they are really well done and not your typical cosplay fare. There are a lot of really good runners up too.
I am glad Axe Cop made an appearance. If he had Army Chihuahua and the other members of his ‘team’ with him in the shot, i would completely vote for that.
As it stands, id have to go for the second hobgoblin.
It is surprisingly hard to steal a Chihuahua for Comic Con. Maybe I can pull it off next year.
Judge Hunter for the win! oh wait too late :-(
the orange one is the hobgoblin the green one is green goblin there not both hobgoblins
