I figured The Avengers was going to break the one billion dollar mark, I just didn’t think it was going to happen in less than a month. Disney announced on Sunday that the Marvel superhero team movie cross the billion dollar mark just 19 days after release, making this one of five Disney flicks to have hit this milestone.
“We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of The Avengers,” said Robert A. Iger, Disney’s Chairman and CEO. “It’s a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come.”“We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of The Avengers,” said Robert A. The other five Disney movies to hit this mark include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
You may remember word last week that Disney and Marvel were indeed moving ahead with a sequel, though no release date has been announced.

PS The last time I remember watching a movie on the big screen more than once was LOTR; Star Wars before then. Wow.
