Warner Bros. has tapped Chronicle director, Josh Trank to helm the upcoming adaptation of The Red Star by Christian Gossett.
The Red Star is set in an alternate USSR where futuristic technology co-mingles with magical elements. The protagonist is a Red Fleet soldier who goes up against an ex-leader who rules with an iron fist.
Neal Mortiz is producing, based on a script by Joason Rothenberg. Considering Trank made the WB more than $100 million over Chronicle, its a pretty sure bet that the studio is looking to see what the director can do next… maybe even grooming him to be their next big name director ala Zack Snyder?

If this is half as good as the PS2 game, it will be amazing.
I miss The Red Star so much. What a stunning comic. Why was it never finished?
And I’m super excited for this pairing. Chronicle was much better than I expected.
