Marvel teased us last week with the return of X-treme X-Men this July, but it took Wondercon 2012 to shake out the real nuggets of information.
First, the series is going to be written by Greg Pak, with the series spinning out of events occurring in Astonishing X-Men, and it features a log of universe hopping heroes. Second, the team will be composed of a Howlett, a cowboy take on Wolverine, Kid Nightcrawler, and Alison Blaire – aka Dazzler.
“Howlett is former Governor General James Howlett of the Dominion of Canada and Viceroy of Her Majesty’s Expedition to Shangri-La,” Pak explained of his team leader. “He’s clearly achieved a position of more respectable, mainstream authority in his world than Logan has in ours. But he’s still a rowdy wild card. He looks older than “our” Wolverine — about fifty, with a pulp adventurer’s fedora, duster, and handlebar mustache. And instead of adamantium, his skeleton is laced with golden adamantine, the metal of the gods. What the heck’s that all about? Pick up ‘X-Treme’ and find out!”
While his interview and comments on Howlett are interesting, Pak went on at length in an interview with Comic Book Resources on how excited he is to feature Dazzler in the series. Pak also pointed out that steam-punk versions of Emma Frost and Armor from Pak’s Astonishing X-Men run will also appear in the series.

Could be fun!
Seems like a revived Exiles concept, and I’m always down for reality-hopping. Just wish they weren’t reviving the abominable “X-Treme” title too.
Yay some one finaly noticed how hidieous and dated Dazzler’s costume is.
Isn’t that Emma in the artwork above?
DAZZLER?!?!?!?! Ohmygod. I’m excited about a Marvel Comic again…. Seriously. I got goosebumps over this. I =heart= Dazzler! I used to play as her (and ONLY her) in the old X-Men arcade game…
I thought the alternate X-characters in the other universe were interesting so I’m hoping this plays off as fun as it could be… though that is not Dazzler in the picture ;)
It seems like 1 out of 5 characters in the Marvel universe is an alternative version of Nightcrawler right now
