Hmmm….. Same Avengers from the movie plus Spider-Man…..Coincidence? Well of COURSE it is! Nobody would shill a movie through a comic event! That’s just silly…….
When did Hawkeye change his costume to be more like the movie version?
Who’s the guy right behind Emma?
Namor, the Sub-Mariner
Oh thanks. I thought it was him but the fact that he was on the X-men side got me confused
Marvel has been pushing Namor as the “first mutant” for a while now. The tiny wings on his ankles that allow him to fly is his mutation (other Atlanteans, except for his cousin and niece(?), can’t do that). I think his extra strength is also part of his mutation.
Which is kinda odd in that Namor is an Atlantean/Human hybrid. And that Namora and Namorita (also of mixed heritage, IIRC) have the exact same “mutation”.
I thought Apocalypse was supposed to be “the first mutant”?
And doesn’t Logan’s current origin make him older that Subby?
He also has light colored skin and can breathe air as well as water. Most Atlanteans have blue skin and wear water buckets on thier head when they attack.
…actually, if this guy is Namor (and even if he is tagged as Marvel’s first mutant), why the heck is he on the X-Men team??
I admit not following all the X-Titles tribulations (none of them), but Namor in the X-men? Did they need a powerhouse so much (to go against the Hulk)??
Mokin is darn confused…which is not a first, but still…
Namor sided with the X-Men about the time of the Utopia arc, making Atlantis and Utopia allies. Personally, I’m hoping that they phase him out of the X-men and have him mainly in The Defenders as his primary place in the X-men has been as second resident smart-ass to Magneto and romantic triangle with Emma Frost and Cyclops.
He’s Wolverine’s stand-in now that Wolvie’s off teachin’ the kiddies, is basically how it turns out. Notice the similarities: anti-social behaviour & wedge-shaped heads. Oh, yeah, and that whole “he’s a mutant human/regular atlantean hybrid” thing. But I figure it’s more the stand-in thing. God forbid Scott Summers actually just “gets the girl”. (And I don’t even =like= ‘clops, but.. man, the writers c***block that dude so much it’s sad.)
I didn’t mind it back in the day when Claremont left it at a strong attraction between the two but Jean stayed with Scott. Of course this is back when he took on several X-Men at once and was beating them or at least holding his own until he stopped it (this was after their first skirmish with Proteus). I think he’s a stand-in for Chuck. If the writers can’t make Chuck the big d**k they’ll do that to Cyclops.
Any reason that the X-Men are mostly facing the reader/viewer, while the Avengers are facing their opponents? Odd choice of poses, that.
If Marvel *REALLY* hasn’t had as big a story as Avengers v X-Men, I hope the number of tie-in series eclipses that of Fear And Loathing In The Marvel Universe Itself by at least 15 titles.
I -think- I’m being serious (not sarcastic) when I say that not only are you right & that I agree, but, like… if this is =THAT= big? It better lead to a company-wide (or many, many titles-wide) reboot/change in direction. Maybe this is the “New Marvel” gateway, like Flashpoint was for the New DC Seventy-Five (or whatever the number is at now)? Yeah, after rereading & rethinking, I’ve decided I am serious. If they’re gonna say “Biggest storeh EVAROMG!”, I’m gonna say “I’m from the show-me state. Bring teh CHANGEZ0R~!”
I was being snarky, but you do make a very good point. Everything from Marvel is the “BIGGEST STORY EVAH~!”.
