Bluewater Productions, a leading independent publisher of comic books and graphic novels announced today they entered into a new agreement with SCB Distributors to serve as their exclusive distributor for their graphic novels.
Bluewater, who will continue distribute monthly comic book issues through Diamond Comics Distributors, plans on publishing more than 75 graphic novel titles through SCB in 2012.
“This is a significant step for us,’ said Bluewater president Darren Davis, “SCB has the best model to get our product into major distribution channels. With their help, next year should prove to be a banner year at Bluewater.”
According to the Vancouver, WA-based publisher, graphic novels written by or in partnership with such considerable talents as SE Hinton, John Saul, William Shatner and Adam West will soon available through channels such as Ingram, Baker & Taylor and Follett. This is in addition to the various non-fiction and biography titles the company has be known to produce.
Davis added, “This is the breakthrough I’ve been looking for. Getting our product, into these channels is a key to attracting traditional book stores, schools and libraries. With both our fiction and non-fiction (“Female Force,” “Political Power” and “Fame”) lines, we feel we have a lot to offer and I have long been a strong proponent in using graphic novels in schools as a reading supplement.”
Recently, Bluewater announced a deal with publishing giant Simon & Schuster to produce a graphic novel about the hunt for and eventually killing of Osama bin Laden called Killing Geronimo. Their biography on Apple founder Steve Jobs recently broke the Top 10 on Amazon.com list of graphic novel titles.
