The Hollywood Reporter reports that Warner Bros. is in negotiations to snag the rights to Christian Gossett’s The Red Star series. The project was originally at Universal Pictures before it was ultimately shelved, so this news is an interesting development.
The lavish comic first appeared in 1999 and is set in an alternate USSR where futuristic technology and magical elements co-exist. The main character is a soldier in the Red Fleet and his wife, who become keys to defeating a former brutal ruler and his minions.
According to the report, Neal Mortiz’s Original Films company is set to produce the movie with Jason Netter of Kickstart Productions.
