I can’t believe its been twenty years since the Rocketeer movie debuted, and nearly thirty years since Dave Stevens unleashed the adventures of Cliff Secord on the world. Though he is greatly missed, fans still honor Stevens’ work and we still have Rocketeer Adventures from IDW Publishing.
John Banana has created this awesome bit of 3-D animation as an homage to Stevens that simply rocks.

This is one the best things I have seen in a long time. A fun tribute to a great creator, and his wonderful creation. Why can’t we get something like this? The Adventures of the Rocketeer, or something like that. I’d trade in all the Thor’s, Green Hornet’s, Green Lantern’s, Losers’, and Elektra’s of the world to get one new Rocketeer movie.
Somebody really needs to pay that man so I can start watching an actual series of this. Where do I donate?
That was just the bee’s knees! I agree with the first comment, too, though it’s likely that the reason we never got another Rocketeer movie was that Dave only finished one other Rocketeer story and I don’t see how “New York Adventure” would work quite so well as a movie. Plus, I am afraid that we’d get something lame if the wrong people took on the project. After what George Lucan and Speilberg did to Indiana Jones in the fourth movie, I’d hate to see them take it on… we’d probably get the chinless wonder Shea LaBoof in the role of Cliff Secord and who could ever portray Betty except Betty Page? Sorry, I just don’t think Natalie Portman could pull off a decent Betty. Who else is there who might do a new Rocketeer movie justice, other than, perhaps, Peter Jackson?
Shea LaDoof as Cliff…that sends shivers down my spine. I wouldn’t want Spielberg anywhere near this. But Jackson, sure why not, he captured the era in his take on King Kong.
I think someone along the lines of Scarlet Johannson, Christina Hendricks, or Emmy Rossum. Natalie Portman is just too thin, any girl with the ridges of her spine appearing, can’t play Betty.
I don’t know if you have been reading the Rocketeer Adventures but given a good enough writer, and respect of the material, a good movie could be made.
