According to Deadline, Disney has forked over $115 million to Paramount to get the distribution rights of Iron Man 3 and The Avengers movies. Paramount will remain the distributor for Thor and Captain America, and will retain the distributor for Iron Man and Iron Man 2. Disney would never have entered into a deal with Marvel if they didn’t think the company would be a money maker for them, and this deal makes it clear. It will be interesting to see if Disney and Sony/Columbia even consider sitting down to see if there is a possibility of doing something similar with the Spider-Man franchise.
