Press Release
Mid-Ohio-Con announced today that acclaimed creator Frank Cho has joined the guest roster for Mid-Ohio-Con 2010. “We’re thrilled to add Frank to the Mid-Ohio-Con guest list for the 30th anniversary show. We’ve really taken our guest list up a notch this year and we’re looking forward to an amazing turnout on the weekend of November 6-7, 2010 in Columbus, OH.” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con.
Frank Cho is a fan-favorite creator best known for his comic strip Liberty Meadows as well as his stunning art on Marvel’s New Ultimates, Hulk, The Mighty Avengers, and Shanna the She-Devil, and Dynamite Entertainment’s Jungle Girl. Remarkably, the award-winning creator never received any formal training as an artist. He got his start writing and drawing a comic strip called University2 for The Diamondback, the student newspaper at the University of Maryland, College Park.
After graduation, Cho adapted elements of this work for use in a professionally syndicated strip, Liberty Meadows. Cho signed a fifteen-year contract with Creators Syndicate, which he later realized was unusually long and, perhaps jokingly, blamed on having a bad lawyer. Growing tired of newspaper censorship, Cho severed his contract with Creators Syndicate, and ultimately converted Liberty Meadows to a monthly publication.
Cho has won many awards for his comic strip work, including the prestigious National Cartoonists Society’s Awards for Best Comic Book and Book Illustration, the Eagle Award, the Charles M. Schulz Award for Excellence in Cartooning, Scripps-Howard Award for Best College Cartoonist, College Media Association for Cartooning, and the Max & Moritz Prize, for Best International Comic Strip. He has also been nominated for the coveted Harvey and Eisner Awards for his work in comics.
Now entering its 30th year, Mid-Ohio-Con is one of America’s longest-running and most successful comic book and pop culture conventions. Each year, Mid-Ohio-Con brings fans of all ages together with leading comic book writers and artists, film and television creators and stars, as well as publishers and retailers from across the nation. Mid-Ohio-Con 2010 will be held on November 6-7 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Visit us online at www.midohiocon.com.

I remember seeing Frank Cho years ago at the last Wizard World Dallas. Pretty much his whole panel was how to draw hot chicks. Not very enlightening (big boobs and a good hip/waist ratio) but funny none the less.
I’ll have to check that out this year at Mid-Ohio-Con then. ;)
