When I used to work for Disney, we knew exactly when to hit the park to get on Star Tours without waiting in long lines. The original flight simulator ride has shut down, but LucasFilm and Disney are making the ride more relevant to today’s park goers, and over at the Disney Parks Blog, they’ve posted a promotional video about the new ride.
I wouldn’t expect those destinations to be the actual places visitors will see in the ride. The original ride promised a trip to an awesome destination until the rookie pilot made a wrong turn and park visitors ended up helping to blow up the Death Star.

What a missed opportunity. There is no excuse not to get Billy Dee Williams to do that voice over. I would have bought a plane ticket on the spot.
Also, Alderaan=BOOM=Awesome ride. Hopefully.
Apparently this is pre-Death Star. That, or we’re supposed to get blown up at the end of the ride. And that’d end your trip real quick, wouldn’t it?
That being said, I can’t recall ever getting a good look at Alderaan in any of the movies. Am I wrong, or is this probably something they sat down and conceptualized for the ride?
Been to Dinseyland so many times since the 70s and Disneyworld twice—but still haven’t been able to experience Star Tours. Either the lines were way too long or it was closed at the time. Captain Eo was kinda cool because of the 3D effects but its not Star Wars.
All the shots in the trailer are just reworked shots from the films. They just replaced the Millennium Falcon and the Tantive IV with the Star Tours ship. I really would like to see more of ‘live action’ Alderaan, but if they’re just reusing shots for the trailer I imagine it’ll be another accidental adventure ride.
