I probably ought to sit down and read the X-Men: First Class series at some point because the cast for the upcoming Michael Vaughn movie keeps getting bigger. The latest to join the film is Jennifer Lawrence, who has been cast as Mystique.
The role is a big jump in terms of exposure for Lawrence, who is generating awards buzz for “Winter’s Bone,” and also marks her first studio feature. The actress is about to topline thriller “The House at the End of the Street,” which begins production in Ottawa in August, and will then segue to England for “X-Men.”
Wonder if she’ll be wearing a white tunic like she often does in the comic books, or if she’ll go all Romihn on us?

Hold the phone, more casting!? more and more this is sounding like an x-men reboot than first class
I remember purchasing first class- it had iceman, beast, angel, cyclops and jean.such a fun comic! iceman was funny and it worked as we got time to know each characters than be bombarded with a new x-men out of nowhere
Mystique is such an interesting character, they should’ve made her own spin off movie..covering her early life, encounters with wolverine, magneto etc..
I’m not sure you’d need to read X-Men First Class, since it looks like it will have little to do with the movie. It is a great read since you don’t have to deal with any of the baggage that comes with some of the modern books.
Yeah, this is a LOT of characters. I already felt they bogged down X3 by introducing too many characters, so I’m not sure this is going to work.
but X3 had Brett Ratner, so it was never gonna wwork.
