Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel will be stepping down from his position once the Marvel/Disney acquisition is complete. Maisel is the brain behind securing funding for Marvel Entertainment, which allowed the company to finance all of the company owned films.
Maisel will continue to serve asan exec producer on Marvel’s next three movies, “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “The First Avenger: Captain America,” while pursuing other opportunities.
Kevin Feige will serve as the new lead, reporting directly to Rich Ross, the Walt Disney Studios chairman.
Good or bad is yet to be determined, but it may be an indicator to the “we’ll leave everything at status quo” message that was sent out a couple of months ago.
