It’s been a long standing tradition to change the name of a movie in production to keep prying eyes away from the sensitive/spoiler content of the film. George Lucas did it with Star Wars and Blue Harvest, and it looks like Marvel is doing the same thing with the Captain America film currently scheduled to begin lensing in June of 2010.
Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth.
Here’s the challenge for the Legion of Major Spoilerites – if you live in a town or city where a movie called Frostbite is filming, get thee to the set and snap some under cover pics. Of course, now that the cat is out of the bag, expect the movie to change the production name to Bitefrost, or some other clever name.
