Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Sean Galloway

If you like what Sean Galloway did for Spider-Man, then you’re really gonna dig this concept piece for Iron Man.

My pal, Luis Gomez-Guzman, hit me up with an email out of the blue one day to show me he had begun the sculpt of the Iron Man illustration I had posted some time back (I originally drew it last year for my lil bro’s b-day; He’s a HUGE Iron Man fan). I was wowed by what I saw. Luis asked me to make notes, so he can get it closer to how I drew, and he also asked me to design the back for him to model from, so the top right pic is me drawing over his screen cap.

The major props goes to Luis Gomez-Guzman. I only drew it, and he ran with it like there’s no tomorrow.

Luis used 3DSMax to sculpt it. He actually rigged it too, but I saw an error in my shoulder design when he showed it to me last year. If we move further on to play with animating it, then I’ll draw a couple of lines so he can actually lift his arm straight above his head! HAHAHA

Anyone who ever has the chance to meet Cheeks needs to do so. Not only does his art rock, but he’s one of the most awesomely nice guys you could ever talk to.

It looks sort of alien, kinda like what darkseid’s kid would wear if he had an iron man costume. Picture the DC animated universe version of him and you’ll see it lol.

Must be a killer to sit down in.

And how does he even support all that bulk with those calves? All it would take is a quick rugby-tackle, and bang! Down!

Great concept, but Galloway has horrible comic-book story-telling skills.

That is so cool. The first thing I thought when I saw it was “Hey, another tooned-out action figure!” When you say ‘sculpt’ you mean virtually I guess, but I could see this invading thousands of houses as a gashapon or vinyl figure. Wonder if a suave Tony Stark will follow?
