John Lucas steps up to the plate today, with his interpretation of Sailor Steve Costigan. I’ve seen a couple of artists take on the boxing pulp adventurer, and many attempt to portray him as looking like The Goon. Fortunately, John brings a unique take on this classic character.

The cauliflower ears work for this kind of character. It isn’t the sort of art I gravitate toward but it is good on its own merits.
