It worked for Battlestar Galactica, so why not try it with another television series from days gone by? The Syfy Channel is looking to remake Alien Nation into a new updated television series.
“Alien Nation” centers on the partnership between a veteran cop and his alien detective partner, set against the larger tale of alien “newcomers” who move to Earth and attempt to assimilate into society.
Tim Miner of Angel, X-Files, Firefly, and Strange World fame is currently writing the first script.
Alien Nation was a very good movie, and an intriquing television series as it gave the creators a platform to talk about immigration and racism without singling out a particular race. It jumped around a bit, and ended up spawning a series of made for television movies as a way to wrap up the big arc. If SyFy brings the goods like it did with Battlestar, then I’m sure it will work out just fine.

All I really remember from this show is that the aliens got drunk on spoiled milk.
Can we all agree to stop indulging the lamebrains behind this dopey name change? Let’s all keep spelling it “SciFi”. What are they gonna do, punish us by putting on a watchable show?
It’s funnier to use SyFy because of the shear ridiculousness of the whole thing.
It could end up quite controversial I think. I didn’t really watch BSG so I don’t know if they were hinging on any real life issues, but if they use BSG levels of grittiness with a series that is a sci-fi take on racism they’ll have quite a bit of graphic racist content.
To Gaumer: oh yeah, I also remember that salt water acts like acid upon them, and they don’t like flowers that have been picked. Something like a smell like rotting meat to them. Also, they have three sexes.
@Randallw: I thought it was cold water that burn them like acid, I think they also turned into a Hulk like monster if they overdose on a certain drug too.
No, seawater. I remember that if they are too close to the ocean then seaspray in the wind gives them their equivalent of sun burn. Also there was an episode where some wise old alien astounded one of them by wading into the ocean without getting burnt.
