Very Alex-Ross-like style, there. Puts me in mind of his “Uncle Sam”.
In no detriment (did I spell that right) to the president, I’m starting to wonder if all of these comics are just catering to the dumb masses that think these issues will be worth something someday.
To Kirby:
Without a doubt, yes. It’s the same mindset of the people who advertise “genuine presidential Barack Obama coins” with the Sunday coupons. The only real worth they’ll ever have is personal to the owner, not in any collectible way. I personally find it all a bit ridiculous, but then again, I find the whole political scene ridiculous, so that’s me.
The art’s pretty nice in this one, though.
The Obama covers have been getting asses in the comic shops though. A good clerk can always take advantage and nab some more sales and an even better clerk can turn a newbie into a weekly buyer.
I hate the politics comics too (except Ex Machina; thats pretty cool) but they bring a chance to grow the market. Although it is a pretty slim chance
I agree that the Akberali art is beautiful. Smoke and Mirrors kinda stuff. But…this Pres-Elect hasn’t even done anything that demands such greatness yet. Nothing to warrant anything “super” just yet. “Super-ficial”? Jimmy Carter 2.0. He’s just another Neville Chamberlain. The TOTUS (the Teleprompter, what else) on the other hand needs its own over-glorified book.
NoGovtCheeseHandouts, let’s keep it topical please.
