I’ve been wanting to feature Adam Warren in the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day for a while now, but just didn’t find something that clicked until now. I had a chance to see the new G.I. Joe trailer a few days ago, and it blew my mind. Yes, it looks cheesy and over the top with the special effects and slowmotion fight scenes, but I really want to see it.
Behold: A wheezingly ancient (well, circa 2002) sketch I did for DA’s own. Despite the age of the piece (and the fact that I’m no longer fond of my 2002-era facial stylings), I thought it might be apropos after seeing the preview for the BARONESS movie… Er, I mean the GI JOE movie, whateva. (Srsly, said preview seemed to feature the Baroness in every other shot.) Not that I give a crap about the GI JOE franchise overall, BTW… though I do appreciate the fine RESOLUTE designs that devilpig’s been posting.
Scanned from a high-contrast photocopy, which doesn’t aid the repro quality very much… Oh, well.

Thanks for putting Adam Warren’s work in the “Art Appreciation” feature! His rendition of “The Dirty Pair” is one of my all time favorite series, and his more recent “Empowered!” is just wonderful.
