Mark Waid’s Irredeemable Trailer Provides Sneak Peek

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherFebruary 23, 20095 Comments1 Min Read

BOOM! Studios has released a teaser trailer to Mark Waid’s brand new superhero series, Irredeemable.  The first issue arrives in April.

“In superhero comics, pretty much everyone who’s called upon to put on a cape is, at heart, emotionally equipped for the job. I reject that premise,” said series writer and BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid. “IRREDEEMABLE is, in a way, my third and most complex chapter on the cost of superheroics – a pulp adventure tale of horror exploring how the lessons we learn about right and wrong as children can become warped and twisted when challenged by the realities of the adult world.”

Take the jump for a sneak peek of the issue.

really crossing my fingers on this one!

Nuking babies in the first issue is a surefire way to make me NEVER buy this book. I hope they at least have the decency to put a mature readers label on this thing.

I’m with Mike on this one. Frying infants should occur off-panel. That’s an image that doesn’t help me when I try to defend comic books to the in-laws and their preacher.

Well Boom! has stated that Mark Waid is evil, so while it is shocking, it is also not surprising… I’m sure this will have a mature reader tag.

Quite the shocker for me, as well, and a real turn-off. But hey, if that’s what Mark Waid wants to do….

On the other hand, I’m concerned with what’s to follow. After this assault on our senses and sensibilities, what’s next?
