    Resurrection Optioned by Universal

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherApril 28, 20082 Comments1 Min Read

resurrection1.JPGThe Oni Press titles Resurrection has been options by Universal Pictures to be turned into a feature film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“Resurrection” begins where most other alien invasion movies end, centering on a group of survivors trying to take back control of the planet after an apocalyptic invasion.

This is the third title from Oni Press that has been optioned in recent months, and points to Hollywood’s continued interest in comic titles and properties.

I’ve been really digging this title, it gives you almost a Walking Dead type vibe. Resurrection picks up at the best part of the story (for me at least) … what to do when the war is over. There was a great panel in the last issue when the crazy-lady scientist is tracking down her lost “bug” Spock and comes across two shell-shocked hunters. She asks if they had seen a “bug”, and they responded yes … and it threw us off when it spoke English … and then she plugged them both. Great stuff.

The only problem that I’ve been having is getting my LCS to order the title, as they aren’t known to stock these ONI Press titles. So Stephen, get your buddies over there to work some magic for me.

      Sounds like “Battlefield Earth”…

      …except, you know, GOOD.
