In case you are wondering, that represents the sum total of my purchases at the Kansas City Planet ComiCon. One of the bad things about trying to collect high quality back issues from the early to mid Silver Age is you end up spending a lot of money – A LOT OF MONEY. I can’t believe how much I went through in just one hour, and barely scratched my want list.
I did complete my Legionaries run (those were only 50-cents apiece), and finally picked up a couple of sketch books from Philip Moy (for a dude that draws Power Puff girls, he sure can draw some wicked hot girlies) but after the hour and a half of trudging through long boxes with a wife and 9-month-old in tow, and hearing the 9-month-old constantly sighing indicating he was bored, fortunately, he fell asleep but not before my wallet ran dry and we headed out of the con.
There were several high profile celebrities at the show; Walter Koenig and Kenny Baker were the two high-profile celebs, also in attendance were David Finch, Bruce Jones, Angel Medina, Javier Saltares, Walter Day, Kurt Busiek, Eric Powell, B. Clay Moore, and much more.
I didn’t stand in the long lines to get autographs, but Major Spoilers reader Jeff Johnson did, and sent some pics of his bad self with some of the guests of the show.
B. Clay Moore
David Finch
Jason Aaron
Kurt Busiek
Thanks for the pictures Jeff – and remember Spoilerites, if you attend a show and take a ton of pictures, send them my way, and we’ll get them up on the site.

Stephen’s Wife: Stop spending all our cash on back issues of the Flash!
Good One!
i have most of those books somewhere in a box i got most of those from my uncle .
so how much did that set you back?
It looked like a major Carmine Infantio love in that picture. Does that mean original SPider-Woman’s high on your list too?
More than $10, but less than $1000 ;)
One of the best comic cons I ever went to was in KC, while I was in college, back in the late 80’s.
I picked up a few Groo issues I was missing. Also 4 original pages (3 Angel Medina Spawn’s, 1 Ron Wagner Flash). We probably crossed paths.
