Variety is reporting Warner Brothers has picked up the film rights to the graphic novel Cyclops by Alexis Nolent.
Set in the near future, the actioner concerns mercenary forces whose soldiers wear Cyclops-like cameras in their helmets and broadcast in real time to both central command and living rooms. One mercenary chosen to lead an elite squad begins to realize he isn’t fighting for freedom and justice as much as for commerce.
The company is moving as quickly as possible in getting this movie into production already naming James Mangold as director. If you haven’t seen Mangold’s remake of 3:10 to Yuma, you owe it to yourself to rent it any way you can. A brilliant piece of movie directing, and if this is an indication of things to come from Cyclops, sign me up.
For our international readers, have you read Cyclops? I don’t get my hands on French titles that often, and would like to know more about the graphic novel.
