For a dead guy Steve Rogers is sure making the rounds in the Marvel U. In the Chosen, David Morrell of Rambo fame, tells the tale of Corporal James Newman’s life as a soldier in Afghanistan who ends up getting a little help from Captain America. I’m not sure if it is supposed to be part of regular continuity or not (it seems to be a Marvel Knights tale), but if the sudden appearance of Cap to a soldier having a crisis is a clue, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to find out Mr. Newman ends up wearing the red, white, and blue at some point.
If you didn’t get the first issue, Marvel has announced it will be going back to press, with the reprint arriving in stores October 17, 2007 for $3.99.

I should have posted this in the original post, but DAMN! I love this cover. Nothing is more iconic or more inspiring that Cap surrounded by god light coming to your aid. Is Cap the new JC? WWCAD?
I like it too, even with the “Chicken Man” tunic…prefer the chainmail.
