The unofficial Ray Stevenson blog had this tid-bit of casting news/rumors about the upcoming Punisher 2 movie.
Got the scoop over weekend regarding the casting of the remaining characters for Punisher: Welcome Back Frank is underway. The remaining lead characters include the main villain Billy Russo/Jigsaw, LBJ/Looney Bin Jim (Jigsaw’s brother), Nicky Donatelli (undercover FBI agent serving as Jigsaw’s right hand man), his wife Angela Donatelli, FBI agent Luke MacDonald, Det. Martin Soap, and Microchip (The Punisher’s armorer).

Ray Stevenson isn’t a bad choice to play the Punisher, but like the Hulk, it just seems strange to wipe the slate clean so quickly and make new movies with new lead actors. Plus, one of the few things that absolutely worked for me from the first movie was Thomas Jane as Frank Castle–and Jane was not only willing to go back for a sequel, he was actually PUSHING for it. Booting Jane is just puzzling and it kind of puts me off of this production.
However, for Det. Soap, I’d go with this choice: Christopher MacDonald (aka Shooter McGavin.)
Thomas was not booted he was prepared for the part got in shape and everything he wanted a good scripted and was pushing for one that captured the punisher then they gave him something that he felt was whats a good word here .oh yeah garbage and left the movie there is a letter he worte to someone on the internet i forgot were i saw it maybe superherohype.com so if thomas is not doing it the movie is going to be dumb with all do respect to the actors on the next film !what the fuck!

the second film just seems like a huge dissappointment to me. i loved the first punisher, and thomas jane was a fantastic actor to play the part, he truely captured the real punisher. i feel that the new guy is too old and looks a little out of shape. the punisher is my favorite movie and thomas jane is my favortie actor i just dont think this movie will meet my expectations. hopefully he’ll prove me wrong and exceed my expectations, but im not too sure.
and thomas jane left because he felt that the script was sucky. he put on 12 pounds of muscle in a few months just for the film.
