The stage has already been set for the return of Steve Rogers, the fall of Tony Stark, and a whole heck of a lot of Skrull Skull smashing by the big green guy. So where does that leave the X-Men?
They have their own major event coming up soon, and to help set the stage, Marvel has sent us a sneak peek at Uncanny X-Men #488 along with the a peek at the Endangered Species backup story by Mike Carey and Mark Bagely.
UNCANNY X-MEN #488
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils and Cover by SALVADOR LARROCA
The X-Men have returned from their harrowing journey into space, and with the team still reeling from the events of that battle, now would be the worst time for another crisis—so it’s fortunate that Storm has made her return to the X-men! The Wakandian Queen is recruited to help her former teammates investigate a series of unprovoked outbreaks of violence amongst the Morlocks, a situation made even worse by the tragic events of M-Day.
Plus…Magneto’s return? After he was caught in a violent explosion in the pages of New Avengers, the militant mutant rights leader was thought to be dead, but Professor X isn’t convinced. His search continues for his former friend in the pages of Uncanny X-Men #488.
Uncanny X-Men #488 arrives July 5, 2007 for $2.99.

I’m glad Caliban didn’t get killed off. I really like how Brubaker is playing up Caliban and Warpath’s history together on X-Force.
