Creators of Freshmen Help Celebrate Grand Re-Opening!
On November 1, 2006, the stars have aligned to bring together two momentous events. Freshmen II #1 from Top Cow Productions will hit store shelves on this date, and famed comic shop Golden Apple is moving after 27 years in business.
The highly anticipated sequel to the sellout first mini-series will feature the writing of series co-creator Hugh Sterbakov (Freshmen, Robot Chicken) and art by Will Conrad (Buffy, Red Sonja vs. Thulsa Doom). Golden Apple is Los Angeles’ premier comic book retail destination, having established itself as “comic shop to the stars” with numerous celebrity customers and admirers including Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, and Nicholas Cage. Golden Apple recently announced it would be moving to a new location just down the street, now to be located at 7018 Melrose, just east of La Brea on the south side of the street. The Grand Re-Opening will be next Wednesday, November 1st. The event will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with comic icon Stan “The Man” Lee, and continue throughout the day.
To bring these two events together, Top Cow Productions and Golden Apple are pleased to announce that co-creators Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Italian Job) and Hugh Sterbakov will be signing copies of Freshmen at the Golden Apple Re-Opening Party from 5PM until 7PM on November 1! “Golden Apple is an L.A. institution, and the first comic shop I ever went to in LA”, Seth Green remarked, “As I’ve been to so many of these events for other people’s books, Hugh and I are excited to bring Freshmen to Golden Apple.”
“Golden Apple has been a staple of the Los Angeles comic book community as long as I can remember– it’s the first comic store I came to for my weekly books when I moved to Los Angeles,” echoed Sterbakov, “Seth and I are thrilled to be a part of their grand re-opening celebration, and we’re even more excited to finally get Freshmen II #1 into the hands of the loud folks who’ve been anticipating our return!”
Ryan Liebowitz, L’il Kahuna at Golden Apple added, “I’m so excited to open a new store with the help and support from old friends.”
