According to 20th Century Fox, the Fantastic Four sequel has a new name…wait for it… Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer.
In the sequel, the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of The Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.
This movie appears to be a loose adaptation of Fantastic Four #48-50. Issues 48 is the first appearance of Galactus, and The Silver Surfer, and includes appearances by many other characters including Watcher, Black Bolt, The Seeker, Skrulls, and more. Current price for you collectors is $460. With so much going on in these three issues, one has to wonder where the studio will cut and change to make it all fit. It would be super cool if Watcher and the rest made an appearance, but let’s not count on it.
The return of Doctor Doom hints the studio could also be pulling story elements from issues 57 -60. In this story arc, Doom steals the “power cosmic” from The Silver Surfer.
So a combo of the two stories? Quite possibly. Any chance we’ll see Galactus in this installment? Probably not. However, if they really want to mess with fans, 20th Century Fox could hint at the arrival of The Devourer of Worlds at the end of the film (make sure you stick around past the credits).
