You can never have enough D&D monster minis when terrorizing your players. WizKids has released the D&D Icons of the Realms: Monster Menagerie II collection, and there are some scary monsters in this set, including a Beholder!
I’ve only really played Dungeons and Dragons since the 4th edition, and have only dabbled in 5e. There are scores of new players like me who have never had the chance to play classic campaigns like Tomb of Horrors, or White Plume Mountain. Wizards of the Coast is fixing that with Tales from the Yawning Portal that updates those campaigns with new states and monsters that work perfectly in 5e.
When it comes to creating your own dungeon, you can use pen on paper, matts, 3D printed pieces, or purchase highly detailed models to build your world. Of course if you work at the Weta Workshop, you might just go to the extreme and plan to build a board game maze that will fill a room.
