Remember how DC Comics created the JLA 3000, and you demanded that Marvel do the same thing? No? Well someone did, because Marvel said it was so in a press release announcing Guardians 3000.
The series “stars” the original Guardians of the Galaxy and is written by Dan Abnett – minus the Lanning.
Perfect for new and old readers alike, GUARDIANS 3000 is set to reintroduce the original team to the Marvel Universe in a big way! With a new mission, Vance Astro, Yondu, Starhawk, Martinex and Charlie-27 are back and better than ever. Follow this cast of bombastic freedom fighters as they battle to gain control of the galaxy back from the hostile alien armies of the Badoon!
I hope there is a giant BADOOON graphic every time one of these characters appears on the panel… that would be really awesome… right? Right?
<crickets>
But the Brotherhood of the Badoon are just the tip of the iceberg.
WHAAAAAAAA…!?
The Marvel Universe of the 31st Century is a hostile and unforgiving place – with both new & classic foes from throughout Marvel history. A new threat has emerged disrupting the timestream in the past and the present, and it’s up to the original Guardians of the Galaxy to prevent the collapse of all reality! But to save the future, one must look to the past – and the discovery of a mysterious young girl named Geena Drake could hold the key to saving all reality…or destroying it!
Who is Geena Drake, you ask? There isn’t a Wiki entry for her (sorry Stephen, I won’t be using the To The Wiki graphic that you love so much), but her first appearance was in Guardians of the Galaxy #14 that came out in April.
Are you ready for Guardians 3000? You’ve got until October to make up your mind, when Guardians 3000 #1 by Dan Abnett and Gerardo Sandoval arrives in stores.

I love the original Guardians and it’s good to see them back. The title “Guardians 3000” doesn’t work for me. Based on the last few years of Marvel-Now book decisions, I think a more appropriate title be “The All-Old (or All-Original) Guardians Of The Galaxy”?
Being ‘only’ 3000 years later, I would expect Groot to be around. At least, little Groot-lings.
