What does a Pixar animator do when he is in a design rut? Any ideas? How about design a new superhero every day for an entire year. That is exactly what Everett Downing is in the middle of doing and he has posted all of his creations online for your viewing pleasure. We have a few right after the jump.
In an interview with Wired Downing said this about his endeavor:
I got into a rut, I wasn’t drawing enough and a friend told me I was over-thinking things. I just needed to do something I was really into that wouldn’t require too much thinking. I started thinking about designing superheroes and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it. I threw the gauntlet down and decided to draw a super every day.
Downing has a list of names that he has created on the on three basis of “sounds cool”, “puns/word play”, and “totally out of left field.” He has only one rule for his designs and that is they can’t take longer than one hour to finish. Now here are a few of his superheros and you can check out all of them here.
