I voted for the first one. The second and third ones made me wish I could go back in time and tell myself to not watch them.
All of the movies were great in my opinion, and as a kid Part II was my favorite because of all the cool stuff in the 2015 segment. Now I would have to say that the first one is my favorite because of the well crafted story. Hmm…I have certain doubts that we’ll have hoverboards and flying cars 3 years from now.
The original is the best of course with the following two installments playing on the jokes of the first.
If we were to place them in order, I would choose 1, 3, and 2 in the distance. I see the point of 3 being the same as the first two but in the west and by then the routine was tired, but I enjoyed the third much more than two which I find borderline unwatchable.
All you really need to know is which one you quote most.
I can’t think of a single quote from the second or third.
The second is my favorite, I just love “avoid meeting your other self” type of situation in time travel movies.
I voted for 1, 2 and 3 both have plenty going for them, flying cars and steam-punk cowboys both have a strong appeal for my inner 10 year old but 1 wins out for sheer originality.
The first one is the best by far. I think the question is what is the next best.
While I like the re-visit to the 50s in part 2, in re-watching there are too many internal inconsistencies and it doesn’t fit as well with the first. The third movie, seems to get better each time I see it. Really, part 3 is the most like part 1, time travel to create a period piece with a modern fish out of water character with the action/suspense of getting back to his own time. Plus, we deal with the issue of messing with your own future and potentially wiping out yourself. Granted the answer seems to be the same, it’s perfectly okay if you do it for selfish reasons.
I voted for the first one. For me it had the best story out of all of them, what not to love about the ’80 and ’50 coming together? Also it has one of the best Movie Sound Tracks ever, I still have the LP (that a Long Playing Record for the young ones!).
This was a tough choice for me. In a way, these three movies are really just one movie chopped up into three parts. It is one continuous story.
I voted for the second, because it has the most building action and for showing the consequences for misusing time travel.
The first part had the benefit of being able to stand on it’s own. (If you cut out the very last bit leading into the second movie.)
The third part almost took the top spot for me. It’s a fun non-traditional western; it gives Doc Brown a romantic interest and broadens his role past that of merely supporting Marty; and finally, wraps up all the loose threads of part 2, giving us an enjoyable conclusion.
I love all of them, but I hold the third one as my favorite. I love westerns, and it was a brave and clever choice for an installment in the franchise.
I went with the second one. While I absolutely love the first one, the meshing of the events of the first movie with the new things in the second makes for an amazing film that I enjoy more than the first.
Also, hoverboards!
While all good films in my opinion, there’s a reason the first one is a classic, and it get’s my vote.
It’s like asking which part of the ice cream sundae is the best. But no matter what else you pile on it, the ice cream at the bottom is the foundation that supports everything else. II and III would be nothing without I, while I stands alone. I like all three, but the first one is the best.
As much as I love the first, and as much as I enjoy the second, part three would be my favorite part of the overall story. Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole story equally, but I personally enjoyed part three because it was interesting to see them deal with being in the old west as well as trying to find a way to get the DeLorean working. It was also a good look into Doc Brown’s story as we got to see him as more than just the inventor of the time machine but as a man with other dreams and feelings (and the steam time train was freakin awesome).
The first is the best because Huey Lewis gave Marty a hard time for the music being too darn loud. This still makes me chuckle.
