REVENGE OF THE SPIDER-SLAYER-Part 3 (of 3):’Self-Inflicted Wounds’
One of the most pivotal moments of the SPIDER-MAN ‘BIG TIME’ era happens here. Other comics promise you their issues will ‘Change Everything’ or that ‘Nothing Will Ever Be The Same.’ No carnival barker-like pitch this time. Just the plain, simple truth: This issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN will have repercussions for Peter Parker and this title’s cast for years and years to come. Guest-starring THE NEW AVENGERS.
Also in this issue: We finally reveal what has become of the alien symbiote. And a dramatic change to Spider-Man’s powers. Do NOT miss this issue!

BRAND NEW ARC! GREAT FOR NEW READERS! As the “Crisis on Infinite Darkwings” subsides, the way is made for…what else? A brand new crisis! Something mysterious has emerged in the ranks of the formerly-most-fiendish secret organization on the planet — F.O.W.L. Inside F.O.W.L.’s remnants lurks a plot so insidious that Darkwing Duck has been enlisted to neutralize the nefarious notion by one of their own — Steelbeak! Don’t miss the first part of… “F.O.W.L. Disposition!”

I Kill Giants
It’s a story about a girl who’s a bit of an outsider – she’s smart-assed and funny, but totally in our geekland: she’s obsessed with Dungeons & Dragons, she doesn’t have a lot of friends, she’s a bit of a social misfit. She’s taken her fantasy life a little far, and really only talks about giants to people. She’s convinced that giants are real and giants are coming, and it’s her responsibility to stop them when they show up. This weird little fantasy life that she’s going has started seeping into her real life, and as we see things from her point of view, we see that she sees pixies and she sees signs in the clouds and other things that might be telling her that bad things might be coming.

“And while we’re on the subject, and while we’re the subject, abd while we’re on the subject, how’s you’re wazoo.” Love the Firesign Theater reference Mathew.
I can’t believe you left out Groo the Wanderer when discussing sword & sorcery comics :(
Forgot to point out that Rodrigo’s audio is missing during the last minute of this episode
Yup. I’m curious to know what we missed in those 30 seconds, given it was his final thoughts on the book.
Incidentally, I just ordered this from Amazon off the back of your reviews. Looking forward to giving it a read.
I have to say that I will definitely check out “I kill Giants”. Your review really makes it sound interesting. I confess that I am dealing with the loss of my own father back in December, and am curious to see how the writer handled this concept in his work. Thanks for the interesting and engaging heads up guys. As always your efforts are grand indeed.
Pretty sure David Gabriel was using sarcasm…
The Rosco P. Coltrane bit cracked me up!
After HAL9000, the new MAT9001! There is now a proof that there is a Matthewbot! :)
Seriously, I’ve seen I Kill Giants a couple of times at my comic book store and now I’m eager to pick it. Thank you guys for once again having fed my habit.
For the person looking for good fantasy comic books from the 80’s, I would recommend “The Realm” from Arrow comics. This book was part of the 80’s black and white comics explosion. eBay would be a good source to find the individual issues as well as the TPB’s.
Yeah, I Kill Giants was really good, read it just after it came out, back in…..2008? Might go back and pick it up again sometime.
