I understand that DC Comics needs to diversify, and selling action figures based on their properties seems to be right up its alley. Today the company announced it will diversify even more by licensing and distributing collectibles based on other properties including World of Warcraft. And all of this is going to be done under the company’s new DC Unlimited banner.

Josh Howard has posted images of the final sculpt for the Dead@17 Nara action figure. I like how this is looking and can’t wait to see the final paint job. I wonder if her outfit will be painted normally, or if it will be splattered in blood?

Today Minimate Multiverse posted two new characters from series 16 of the Art Asylum/Marvel minimate line. Joining the other Avengers will be She-Hulk and Wonderman. She-Hulk fans should be happy as they can create cheesecake pinup cover spoofs of their own. I was a bit disappointed in Wonderman, as I think many Avengers fans were expecting Hawkeye. via Minimate Multiverse (link)

Oops! As much as Sony wants to keep the ending to Spider-Man 3 and Venom under wraps, along comes Medicom Toy Company and spoils it all by revealing their S3 toy line. Gone is the white spider, replaced by the dark gray lines instead. Looks pretty wicked. Word on the street is the figure will cost near $100, but the link on the Sideshow Collectibles site that had the pre-order information is now mysteriously missing. via Empire Online (link)

We’ve kind of seen these before, but now Hasbro has officially unveiled the Transformers Protoform transforming toy. Looks really ugly to me, but hey, I’m not a 7 year old kid (in spite of what my wife says). It’s another look at what we can expect from Michael Bay this summer. What do you think?

Diamond Select Toys let us know they are taking pre-orders for the Megatron wall statue.  This 9-inch statue will be available March 15, 2007.  The pre-order price is $89.00. Looks pretty cool for Decepticon fans, but I’m not really sure a wall statue is all that.  Would rather see a maquette than something that will hang on the wall waiting for the little niece or nephew to come along and bash it off by “accident”. via Diamond Select Toys (link)
