Diamond Comic Distributors has released the breakdown of comics sold in the direct market during November 2013. Marvel Comics was the top publisher for the month, but it was a very close finish as the company nudged DC Comics out 29.97% to 29.24%. Diamond Comic Distributors released the numbers for titles sold in the direct market in September 2013.  The biggest thing to note for the month was DC Comics took the top spot in both the Dollar and Unit Shares – which really shouldn’t be too surprising considering the Villains Month dot releases caused a huge number of titles to be shipped during the month. August had some real pros and some real cons for the comic book market. First the negatives – month to month sales were down nearly 15% in dollar sales for individual comics and down nearly 25% for graphic novels. The downward trend continues when comparing August 2013 to August 2012 as sales for comics was down just over 10%. On the plus side, year to year sales are still up nearly 10%.
