Junior Lifegaurd Association comes to Smallville

It was hinted that the heroes that have appeared in CW’s Smallville series should form a league or association of some type (“Like a junior lifeguard association?”). After Thursday night’s run of Smallville, viewers were treated to a preview of an upcoming episode that has Clark, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Bart Allen (Flash), and Victor Stone (Cyborg) teaming up. Miss Deadwood on HBO? Preacher on the Way

I am so upset that HBO decided to not renew their popular western Deadwood.  It was probably one of the best shows HBO had going for it (besides Entourage of course).  Today, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting the cable channel will be developing a one-hour series based on Vertigo comics Preacher. Mark Steven Johnson, who wrote the script for the upcoming Ghost Rider movie is writing the pilot, with Howard Deutch attached as the director. This is great news for fans of the political/religious title and will certainly open the eyes of those viewers who think comics are still just…

If you are up late tonight and need something to do, check out Brian Posehn’s interview on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brian.  Posehn will be on hyping The Last Christmas graphic novel from Image Comics that hits stores today. Here is how Image Comics describes the graphic novel: THE LAST CHRISTMAS pits Santa against a world overrun by demons, zombies, and bad, bad men in a comedic romp that fans of over the top, black humor will be clamoring for! Co-written by Brian Posehn (Just Shoot Me, Mr. Show, The Comedians of Comedy) and Gerry Duggan (Icons), THE LAST…

Best Show Evah…

I know I ragged pretty hard on NBC over that whole “Heroes as a free download” thing. And as much as I have been wanting to write a decent review over the series, in a well thought out way, I can’t. That’s because this is simply the best show on television – period. Heroes blows everything else this season out of the water. That’s a pretty big claim considering other shows like My Name is Earl rank on my Must Watch List. Not much else I want to say right now, I’ll try and do something over the show after…

Heroes Meets Star Trek

TV Guide’s Mike Logan is reporting actor George Takei will be playing the part of Hiro’s father in the NBC hit Heroes. Hiro’s father is this big honcho who shows up in America with his bodyguard. He has this whole elaborate scheme to kidnap his son and take him back to Japan. Tim Kring, Heroes creator, says the character will debut in a January cliff-hanger. Hiro has quoted Star Trek several times on the show, so this seems like a slam-dunk, and a great nod to the Star Trek community. Takei has had some very good (albeit small) roles over…

Alan Moore on The Simpsons

Northants News is reporting writer Alan Moore will be appear on an upcoming episode of the Simpsons. Moore, aged 53, recorded his lines at The Lodge studios in Abington Square last month for an episode which will be called Husbands and Knives. The Simpsons’ production team are long-time fans of Moore’s, whose reputation in the world of graphic novels is legendary. A chance meeting with his fiancée Melinda Gebbie got the project rolling. Mr Moore said: “Mel was in America promoting our new book The Lost Girls and one of the Simpsons producers spoke to her and asked if I…

Heroes Continues to Soar

According to Variety, Heroes continues its successful climb as the hottest show of the season.  Monday night’s “Hiros” episode saw a 10% increase in viewership for adults 18 – 49.  NBC, who is going through some rough times at the moment, finished the evening at a close tie with CBS. The more I watch this series the more I’m loving how well the story is crafted.  Yes, there is some bad acting, and some obvious plot holes, but overall this is THE series to be watching at the moment.  Unless you are a bittorrent user, here’s hoping you have been…

Blade Resurrected?

I previously reported that Spike TV decided to can Blade: The Series for a second season due to declining ratings. Today I get word from Neil Jackson (via is MySpace page), that New Line is still behind the series and is currently shopping it around to be picked up by another outlet. FX? SciFi? G4? Any of these should jump on the chance to pick this series up to play during one of their off season moments. Since Eureak on SciFi is off for a season, now would be a perfect time for Blade to slip in and continue its…

Legion of Super Heroes

The Legion of Super Heroes debuted on the Kids WB a few weeks ago, and fans seem pretty into it.  I think I would have much rather seen more true Bruce Timm inspired characters instead of what I’m seeing in the previews, websites, and commercials.  I have to admit, I’ve been too busy to catch the episodes, but my friendly neighborhood TiVo is holding on to them for me until I get the chance to watch it. Which brings up the question, “What do you think of the Legion of Super Heroes so far?”  Or even better, “What is your…

Heroes the Comic

No, I’m not talking about 9th Wonders!, but rather a bonus online graphic novel that delves deeper into the storyline from where the show left off. Similar to the bonus online video episodes found in other shows, hints and a deeper understanding of the story might be found by reading (or printing out) the first issue. In the debut, artist Tim Sale leads you into a story from Suresh’s childhood that haunts him to this very day. via NBC Heroes (link)
