Let’s return to the days of the cold war… Batman Confidential has had a lot of ups and downs for me.  On the one hand the series gives DC a chance to tell origin stories about Batman and his villains, tech, and history, but on the other hand, DC canceled Legends of the Dark Knight (I know, I’m a broken record).  With the holiday weekend upon us, what better way to show our patriotism than having Batman take on the Russians, or more specifically, the KGBeast.

Or – “This Just In…  Former Captain America Steve Rogers Is Still Dead, Perhaps.” The first thought that I had upon picking up this book, alleged to be a huge bombshell and to reveal the giant hidden workings of the Marvel Universe and the Red Skull’s mind?  “Man, this Bryan Hitch art looks exactly like his Ultimate Captain America.”  Is this mere coincidence?  Or harbinger of something more going on within the book?  

The second installment of Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin hit the stands today.  Now that the euphoria of the first issue has worn off, how well does this issue hold up?

The keeper of the tales has been trapped for a while by her nemesis, and now she’s back to make people’s lives turn around for the better.  But what if the person who needs to change, would really rather return to what they know best?

Or – “How Can They Trump Last Issue’s Antics?” So, what would be more over-the-top than last issue’s hijinks, including group sex, homoerotic trysts, and all manner of pruriency?  How about some drugs to go with our sex and violence?  Maybe even a government official in a compromising situation?  Or how about the whole thing getting even more complicated than before, thanks to Vought-American interference?

Woe is the comic fan who bemoans the loss of Paul Dini in Detective Comics and refuses to jump on a book featuring a strong female lead, for that comic book reader is going to miss out on one heck of an issue.
