The Doom Patrol are dispatched on another perilous mission which not only has some unexpected repercussions, but also results in the brutal demise of a team member. After returning to their home base the group are reluctantly subjected to a mission debriefing from a priest who in his own personal history has dealt with some serious challenges of his own. The Metal Men have also been sent out to deal with a deadly threat but even though they do eventually triumph over their adversary, it is only with the usual group bickering that always occurs between these elemental characters. Or – “Sir, I Protest! I Am NOT A Merry Man!!!” Once again, we’ve come to the situation where Stately Spoilers Manor contains far more comics than there are days to review ’em, leading once again unto the Final Frontier… NUQNEH – NOOKNEHH! Phasers on summarize!

Or – “All Things Must Come To An End…” So, another wave of zombie madness has fallen upon the Marvel Universe, and several of Marvel’s 70’s monster heroes have united to stop them.  Of course, having inoculated themselves with the zombie virus, they could easily turn sides and eat each other, which leads to some uncomfortable conversations here and there.  Zombie Deadpool is onboard, and things are about to wrap up the hard way.  Taking bets now as to who will be standing at the end…

Ten years ago Luke Cage was already a very well known man in Harlem but now that he has been released from Riker’s Island his fame has been greatly increased due to a prison experiment that left him with indestructible steel skin. Cage’s only objective now is to find out what happened to his girlfriend, Josephine Ball, but it appears that some powerful men have other ideas about Powermans future.

Or – “Black Canary Said It, Not Me…” Wonder Woman as a character has always been more successful than Wonder Woman as a comic book, or a series.  The iconic imagery and power that people associate with Princess Diana, from Linda Carter to underoos to Superfriends and back is seldom easily captured in her comics.  Aside from a delightful Kurt Busiek miniseries 20 years ago, some Denny O’Neil issues in the early 70’s, and the George Perez revamp, I’ve seldom found the character to work for me.  Still, I’ve been onboard with the WW revamp for several years, with varying…

Calie travels through the looking glass one last time on a desperate mission to rescue her daughter. If you don’t know anything about Zenescope’s best selling Wonderland series, I would advise that you go to your local comic store and pick up the Return to Wonderland hardback along with back issues of Beyond Wonderland (the Tales from Wonderland trade paperback is also a great read which contains individual stories on characters such as the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts). You don’t necessarily have to read the first two chapters to enjoy Escape but it will add to your reading…

Pop quiz: What do Malcolm McDowell, Naomi Watts, and rapper Ice-T have in common? If you said nothing, I’m sorry – no points for you. If you answered “They’re all bipedal mammals who breathe air and drive fancy cars,” close but no cigar smart-alec. But for those of you who know obscure movies (or if you read the title of the review already) you’d know the answer is Tank Girl, a precursor to the Comic Book-to-Film craze that’s so popular these days.
