I am reading the news that the Boom Studios comic Irredeemable #6 has gone back to press for a second printing. To be honest, I have been away from comics for a while and some things have slipped past me in the last year or so, this being one of them.  With a little research and a nice internet connection, I quickly found out that this was a series that I wanted to read. Or – “Most People Don’t Know That His Full Name Is Manuel Labór.”   So, I have completed my daily labors, overseeing the dozen fellers and gals what make up the current workgroup to call themselves Team RamRod (“See, you’re Arkot Ramathorn… Ram. And I’m Rodney Farva… Rod. Team RamRod!”) and I am preparing to have some spaghetti and hang out with friends, but first I wanted to catch up with some of the many titles that I’ve neglected over the busy last days of August… RAPID-FIRE REVIEW TIME!

It’s extremely interesting that the first thing the readers see when they pick this book up is a wonderfully rendered representation of the original Human Torch depicted in a striking crucifixion pose. This charter character, who in every sense is the “guiding light” of the Marvel universe, was the solid foundation for everything that came afterwards. There could be no Johnny Storm if Jim Hammond hadn’t been created by the scientist from Brooklyn. Professor Horton lit a beacon that is still shining strongly seventy years later.

Tea parties! Art projects! Jump ropes and lollipops are all part of the deliciously delightful 19th issue of Tiny Titans, “Deep in Like”!

Or – “Hal Jordan: The Triple H Of The Green Lantern Corps…” There are 7200 Green Lanterns in the universe…   An equal number of Sinestro Corpsmen.  There are thousands of Star Sapphires, at least four Blue Lanterns, Agent Orange, a horde of Red Lanterns, and a dozen or so of the Indigo Tribe.  So why does EVERYTHING in the endless reaches of the universe seem to revolve around one womanizing ex-truck driver from Coast City?  Is it the hair?

Or – “Why I Expect So Much More From This Title…” There are those who say that the Justice League isn’t the Justice League without the Big Three DC heroes…   This, of course,  raises issues every couple of years when the creative teams have to work around a Dead Batman, a de-powered Wonder Woman or a Reign of the Supermen.  The simple fact of the JLA (as well as The Avengers, I might add) is that the lineup doesn’t matter a whit…  It’s what you do with them.  This book SHOULD be the center of the DC Universe, it should…

For the past three weeks, I have been reviewing the series of one-shots introducing the MLJ/Archie Comics characters into the DC Universe. Instead of introducing these characters stories into the DCU through the originally planned Brave and the Bold series, plans where changed and Michael J. Straczynski instead introduced the initial four characters into a series of weekly one shots. We started with  The Hangman, which I gave 2.5 out of 5 stars.  The next week,  Inferno was the character in the spotlight, and I gave him 1.5 stars out of 5.
