The comics convention season is now in full swing, and I had the opportunity to attend a relatively new “con” on the other side of the country from Wondercon (now called the “real” Comic-Con by some folks I know).

As the closing credits begin to role for Marvel films there are those that leave and those that stay to see another quick scene. But what about movies that don’t have end-credit scenes? Do those credits still matter?
Okay, you walk into a store and are looking for a few specific comics. How do you find them?
In recent years, observers of the movie industry have been worrying out loud about “superhero fatigue.” In other words, will movie-goers get tired of seeing movies with comic-book superheroes in them? I think this might better be turned into “comics-related movie fatigue.” Will people who go to the theater wear out when it comes to comics turned into big-screen films in 2014? That’s why I like to think of this column as: “Comics-Related Movie Fatigue: The 2014 Edition.”
Nobody is happier than I am that more comics-related properties are hitting the big screen. As I’ve said before, each comic can be considered as a possible movie, sometimes even showing how it could look in the movies. Marvel Studios’ Phase II is going to be very interesting to watch for many reasons, and I’ll outline them below.
In the last several years, I’ve noticed a trend that is starting to wear on me. It’s the practice of advertising movies during the commercials of other products.
I’ve been following with interest the Internet discussions ever since word came out last week that Marvel was putting Captain America 3 up against Batman vs. Superman in movie theaters on May 6, 2016. Even though this is still over two years away, the battle lines have been drawn. Most of the people discussing it felt that Warner Bros/DC was at fault because Marvel had previously claimed that weekend even though they never said just what film would be released then. WB/DC had moved the Man of Steel sequel from July 17, 2015, to that date several months ago. Ever…
Even though this website is called MajorSpoilers.com, I still don’t like it when serious plot points in a story I’m looking forward to reading are given away. And I steer clear of ruining a story for anyone else as a result.
Several months ago, I discussed the debut of Batman Eternal, which will begin next month, in April. Now comes word that DC will also have two other weeklies hitting the stores by October. Not only that, September will be another special month, with peeks into possible futures of many DC characters. We’ll see what could be happening to them five years from now.
Have the All-New X-Men overstayed their welcome? When will the time displaced original team of mutants finally return to their own time?
If a comics company wants to get the attention of comics readers and collectors, there’s one sure way to do it … issue a number one! For example, Marvel has announced that at least two number one issues are on the way soon from them … Captain Marvel #1 and Daredevil #1. Some of my friends just wretch every time a first issue comes out. They’re mainly big collectors, and that means they have to shift their comics boxes around to reflect the new realities. And they HATE that! Still, you can ask any comics marketer, and you’ll get the…
It is no secret that The LEGO Movie has been a giant success for The Warner Brothers Studio by earning over $200 million in the United States alone. And, due to that financial success, Warner Bros made the announcement that a sequel will be created with the release date in the year 2017. These announcements are what is killing the sequel.
Recently, news came out that Lex Luthor, Superman’s opposite number, will be joining the Justice League, at least for a while. That’s certainly going to cause friction in that team!
Remember last week’s column when I said that change is a constant in the Doctor Who universe? Well, fortunately for us, change is also taking place in the Superman universe! As reported here at MajorSpoilers.com, two big talents in the comics industry are going to take their shot at Superman, hopefully making that title sparkle as it should!
