The Mattel DCU Classics line has drained by wallet over the last couple of years, and for good reason – these figures have great articulation, and the desire to end up with a build a figure is pretty appealing too.  Unfortunately, Mattel has also released a line of figures that don’t contain the Collect-and-Connect figures, and that may cause confusion among toy fans. Wave 10 of the DCU Classics line has been introduced that features another Batman figure (the first one appeared in the original C-n-C assortment), but the good thing is, you don’t have to get the Batman figure…

Following last week’s Asteroids movie announcement, The Hollywood Reporter is either messing with our heads in an elaborate practical joke, or Hollywood has finally reached the bottom of the barrel.  Deamworks has acquired the film rights to the View-Master toy from Mattel and is asking the writers behind the new Transformers movie to pen the script. Story specifics are being kept under wraps, though Kane, who tweeted his involvement during the holiday weekend, said, “It’ll be like the old ’80s Amblin movies: ‘Goonies,’ ‘Young Sherlock’ … in that vein.” That post has been taken down. Amblin-style movies has been the…

I’m pretty sure we’ve run the images from Mattel’s DC Universe Collection wave 9 before, but we’re running them again, simply because I find the Chemo collect and connect figure so fascinating.  I’ve had a devil of a time with the entire collect and connect series, as I don’t think I’ve been able to complete a single figure – THANKS TARGET! I’m going to have to go eBay diving over the next couple of weeks to find all the back issue figures and parts, because I have completionism OCD, and also because these are pretty awesome figures. Take the jump…

Mattel has announced the sold out Mer-Man figures, part of the new Masters of the Universe collection, will be back in stock on April 29th, beginning at 12:00 PM Eastern.  The first run of the figures sold out, so fans who are building up their new action figure collection will want to cue up early. If this second shipment also sells out fast, we will look at increasing orders again until we can get the numbers just right for MOTU figures. It is a learning process, and we appreciate fan’s understanding as we move forward with each sale getting closer…

The Masters of the Universe re-mastered collection of figures from Mattel have been selling really well since being introduced by the toy company.  Several of those figures have been limited edition figures sold exclusively through Mattel’s MattyCollector.com website (that is until eBay sellers get on the bandwagon). April 15th saw the release of Mer-Man, and even though Mattel has sold numerous figures through the website, the online shopping cart ended up being fraught with trouble causing many carts to remain empty, and before long international buyers couldn’t get their hands on the MOTU fish man. The good news is Mattel…

Hot dang!  Saw these today over at the Matty Collector FaceBook page, and I’m burning with jealousy over the exclusive figures Mattel will feature at San Diego Comic Con 2009.  Granted, today is April 1, 2009, but we’ve seen some of these figures already appear during the New York Comic Con, so it’s a safe bet at least most of these figures are legit.

Universal pictures has picked up the rights to develop a movie based on Mattel’s action figure, Major Matt Mason.  While another toy movie may not sound like a big deal, with Tom Hanks starring in the movie, it will probably get a lot more attention than the Stretch Armstrong movie. The toy line originated in 1966; Mason led an astronaut team that worked on the moon and lived in a space station. The toy was a hit in the buildup to the first manned moon mission. Mattel retired the line in the 1970s. Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce with…
