In which Ralph learns the truth too late For the last 13 weeks, Ralph Dibny has been slowly going crazy over the loss of his wife Sue, and the subsequent desecration of her grave. Last week he tracked down Cassie (Wonder Girl) and was invited into the Cult of Conner to assist in the resurrection of his wife. This issue kicks off with Ralph, dressed in ceremonial garb, taking part in the ceremony.

The 13th Annual Wizard Fan Awards were announced Friday night at Wizard World Chicago. Marvel Comics walked away with 14 awards, with DC right behind with nine. The complete award winner list follows. Major Spoilers wishes to congratulate all of the winners.

The WB has confirmed that Heath Ledger will be playing the role of The Joker in the next Batman film. The company also reports that the title of the next bat-flick will be The Dark Knight. Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman, with Christopher Nolan directing. The film is expected to begin shooting in early 2007. Complete press release follows
The new animated series based on DC’s Legion of Super Heroes hasn’t even aired, but the Superman Homepage has an episode guide, complete with episode titles and a summary of each show. If this is indeed the real deal, fans of this show may be in for a treat. Although the first episode seems very much like the Superman Animated Series where the LoS traveled back in time to prevent Brainiac from killing a young Clark Kent. Via Superman Homepage (link)
Okay, so Aquaman has been around for quite some time – you know, he can talk to fishes and stuff, and was in that classic cartoon show from the 70s and 80s. But no one really gave the brotha any love. This left the underwater hero as the butt of many jokes. Most recently the television series “Entourage” has Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier) staring in the James Cameron (played by James Cameron) directed movie which became a huge blockbuster in the show. Those crazy kids over at the Legions of Gotham Forum have posted some images for the next season of The Batman series currently running on Kids WB. But be prepared for a major shock. Remember The Batman series is supposed to chronicle the early years of Batman and the origins (albeit skewed) of the bat rogue gallery. We already have a Batgirl and a Robin showing up in the series, but season three will have Nightwing and Oracle! DC Comics (press release)–the world’s largest English-language publisher of comic books and the home of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman–Warner Home Video (WHV) and Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) have announced the start of production and distribution of “DC Universe,” a series of original, animated PG-13 movies. The announcement was jointly made by Paul Levitz, President, DC Comics; Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video and Sander Schwartz, President, Warner Bros. Animation.
The torpeadoed Aquaman series may not be coming to a channel near you (ever), but kudos to the WB who was wise enough to try and recoup their losses on the pilot by offering the show for download via the iTunes music store. This 41 minute episode can be purchase for a mere $1.99. If sales of this pilot go over well, could this be the message to Warner Bros. to bring the show back into production for television audiences? Or could this merely be an attempt for the studios to make money off of something they have already written…
Even though Sir Michael Caine said the Joker would be the villian in the next Batman movie, fans have been speculating for some time who would play the Clown Prince of Crime. Names like Robin Williams and Mark Hamill have circulated (I even saw one rumor of Michael Keaton), but fans may now have an answer. Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Adam Turner to write the screenplay for DC Comics Doom Patrol. Warner Bros. will be making the announcement this week at the San Diego Comic Con. Remnicent of the X-Men and teamed like the Justice League, The Doom Patrol uses their freakish abilities to stop evil doers. The film will be produced by Akiva Goldsman via Weed Road Pictures. Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with Don Murphy’s Angry Films to bring the DC Comics superhero “Deadman” to life. The deal is still in negotiations and the search for a writer is underway. Deadman is the ghost of Boston Brand, a circus performer who was murdered during one of his performances. Brand was granted the power to enhabit the bodies of the living in order to find his killer, but along the way he is compelled to help those in need. “(Deadman) has great supernatural elements and is one of the more off-kilter superheroes.…
