Over at The Source (DC Comics blog site), site guru Alex Segura announced DC has a Red Tornado mini-series coming up that features Red Volcano.

Or – “The Abyss Gazes Also…” It’s been an interesting ride for the erstwhile Secret Six, crossing the country while pursued by the DC Universe’s finest cannon fodder, crossing swords with a sincerely scary crimelord who turns out to be one of their own members’ siblings, picking up an immortal banshee to fill their empty sixth slot, and just basically having the bajeezus slapped out of them. After a short interlude with half the team on a date, and the other half filling the shoes of Batman, it’s time for the Six to get back to what brung them to…
Andrea Romano knows how to pick ‘em. For Green Lantern: First Flight, Romano – arguably the best known casting/dialogue director on the animation scene for more than 25 years – has brought together a pair of voiceover novices in the lead roles, along with assorted veterans of feature film and primetime television, including an 82-year-old character actor whose screen appearances date back to Mighty Joe Young. As usual, the mix works perfectly.
With DC switching up the who’s who in the Batman universe, the final question on many people’s minds is, “Who is the new Batgirl?” Dc has been teasing readers for weeks with publicity images, but today, we’re giving you the chance to cast your vote on who you think is under the Batgirl cowl. CHOOSE! [poll id=”87”]
Mattel dropped off a couple of new action figure images featuring a Blue Wildcat variant, the packaging for the upcoming JLU SDCC Green Lantern exclusives, and the packaging for the Anti-Monitor that the rest of us who aren’t going to get the giant figure can expect to see in stores.
I’m really excited to see Dustin Nguyen and Paul Dini team back up for some really good Batman stories, and apparently DC wants to feed that appetite with a sneak peek of Batman: Streets of Gotham #1 that arrives June 17, 2009.
This week, on the Major Spoilers Podcast, the crew takes a crack at the first Deluxe Edition of Vertigo Comics Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan. From the Wiki: In the series, on July 17, 2002, something (referred to as a plague) simultaneously kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome — including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm. The only exceptions appear to be Yorick Brown, a young amateur escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. As always, the Major Spoilers Podcast is nothing without comments from great readers and listeners like you. You can use the comment…
The speculation is going to ramp up again following the latest Batgirl cover sneak. Who’s it going to be? via The Source
Or – “Off To Meet My Doom, Mom! See You After School!” Comic book publishing schedules puzzle me. The Twelve hasn’t come out in what seems like a year, while Agents of Atlas is apparently on a bi-weekly status, and Spider-Man is coming out every sixteen minutes or so. Wolverine alone accounts for half the forests destroyed in the United States every month. The major publishers can’t seem to decide whether it’s a market for the celebrity auteur writer, or whether it’s the characters who sell the books regardless of creator. When Wolverine #73 came out a few weeks…
Over at the Source, DC public relations guru Alex Segura posted the cover to Batman and Robin #4 that features the mysterious new Red Hood character along with his sidekick who’s gone through one of Pyg’s treatments. Take the jump for the full image.
Or – “Cheese!” Japan is one of those world cultures that has been so thorougly disseminated that most every one of us could tell you what we THINK it’s like in the land of the Rising Sun. I suspect that there aren’t schoolgirls who appear to be well above 18 on every street corner, nor are there flying cars full of cyborgs or guys with incredibly spiky hair everywhere you turn. For all the things Japan has given us, (Anime, Sony, every intarweb girl Stephen loves, creepy robot dogs, even a regular love life during my college years) we’re about…
Perennial movie tough guy Michael Madsen provides the voice of Kilowog, the enforcer with a heart, in Green Lantern: First Flight, the next DC Universe animated original PG-13 movie coming to DVD on July 28, 2009. Madsen has been cast as the heavy throughout his busy career, gaining widespread acclaim as Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. His lengthy list of credits include roles in films like The Natural, Thelma & Louise, both volumes of Kill Bill, Wyatt Earp, Free Willy, Die Another Day, and Donnie Brasco. He drew rave reviews for the hit cable television series Tilt as…
or – When G-Mo got his caps back I picked up Batman and Robin #1 today and sat down to read it with great trepidation. I haven’t been the greatest fan of what has happened to the Batman titles over the last three years (as evident on the site), and certainly was not a fan of the person behind the curtain pulling the strings to shape the DCU to his world view. I made sure to only drink water throughout the morning to keep the body and mind pure, and ate a light lunch so as not to upset my…
Spoiler TV looks to have nabbed the first images of Josh Brolin in his complete Jonah Hex getup. The look works, but it isn’t the turn away in horror reaction that we see in the comics. Head over to the site for the full image, plus one. via Spoiler TV
