This past weekend Philly welcomed back its biggest comic book convention. This year was the largest attendance it’s ever had. Take the jump to see some of the cosplayers in attendance!

Director McG created a music video for the Tate Gallery’s Pop Life exhibit by Takashi Murakami who is showcasing the otaku phenomenon in Japan. Otaku (plural noun) In Japan) young people who are highly skilled in or obsessed with computer technology to the detriment of their social skills. The Akihabara Majokko Princess video features Kirsten Dunst strutting around the streets of Akihabara (a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods) singing a cover of The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”. “How did someone like you get into comics?” I am often asked this question whenever people discover that I am a comic geek. I find it an odd question and I’m not entirely sure what they mean by “someone like you”. I assume they are referring to the fact that I am a woman but many times the conversation shifts and focuses on my looks. A few weeks ago, I sent out the call to the Legion of Major Spoilerites to send your questions about cosplay for me to answer.  I’ve been a tad busy, but finally had some time to sit down and answer your questions.

Victoria is quite the busy lady these days.  When she’s not running around convention centers dressed up as her favorite superhero, she making web cam appearances on radio shows, going to college, and working.  Even with her super busy schedule, she still manages to find time for Major Spoilers and the Legion of Major Spoilerites. After a week of voting by You, the Legion of faithful Spoilerites, the winner to the third annual Major Spoilers Costume Contest is announced.  Congratulations go out to Devin Harrigan who entered his Atomic Robo creation.  Devin not only wins the bragging rights to count himself as a champion at cosplay, but he also picks up Iron Man wall-art from Fat Head.com. While it looks like something Iron Man would wear, it’s the X-Men that inspired this pyrotechnic wonder.  I just hope Johnny Knoxville doesn’t get a hold of this.

With close to 90 entries in this year’s Major Spoilers Costume Contest, it was really tough narrowing it down to five finalists.  The Major Spoilers Crew poured over the entries for hours making our individual selections, and when the nominations were put in the hopper, we found our top five. Now, it’s up to you, the Legion of Major Spoilerites to cast the deciding vote.  Who will be named the winner of the 2009 Major Spoilers Annual Costume Contest?  Take the jump to see the finalists, then cast your vote!

The 2009 Game X Expo came to the Philadelphia area for a three day event October 23rd through the 25th. Taking place in Oaks, Pa the convention featured demos, arcades, tournaments, an artist alley, vendors, celebrities and a large variety of activities such as robot wars and light saber training.

We had a huge response to this year’s Major Spoilers Costume Contest.  We received close to 90 entries this year, making this the largest contest we’ve had to date.  Over the next couple of days we will narrow these entries down to the Top 5, and then it will be your turn to vote for the grand prize winner!
