This week has been a little bit traumatic for me, for reasons which hopefully won’t be long-term, but still made it a little bit rough to get rolling this morning. Fortunately, I keep my metaphorical feathers numbered for just such an emergency, and called upon the power of ‘Blinded By The Light’ for musical motivation. The combination of the rock beat, the synthesized wheedly-wheedlies and wondering exactly why the Foreman Of The Night is holding up a loofah kick-started me for a Saturday of having a teenager and the folderal that somehow seems to entail, leading to today’s invigorating query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) loves WWE Superstar Edge’s last theme song so much, it’s my telephone ring tone, asking: What pop-culture musical motivation will never fail to get you off on the adventure of a new day?

Apache by Sugarhill Gang
Makes me think it’s 1981 at the local pizza hangout. Forces my hips into motion!
Ahunga!
I second Apache, known in some circles as “Tonto, jump on it!” Its main beat is quick enough to get your blood pumping, but it has slower parts in the chorus so you have plenty of opportunities to get in the groove even if you catch the song halfway through.
Hell’s Bells will always get me up to take on the world.
Most of my friends who know my taste in music assume it would be something in the categories of classic rock, hard rock or metal. But for some reason, the song that gets me most ready to up and go without fail is the very pop-esque “The Touch” by Stan Bush, which was featured in the old 80’s animated “Transformers: The Movie”.
But the runner up is a bit more toward the expected categories with the classic KISS song “Rock and Roll All Nite”.
Sapotage by the Beastie Boys will always get my ass moving.
