Comixology Originals is poised to launch Devil’s Luck: A Hailstone Story, a new horror mini-series, revolving around a plot to profit from gold teeth.
Devil’s Luck: A Hailstone Story is written by Rafael Scavone with art by Eduardo Ferigato, and arrives in December.
Set during the Great Depression, Devil’s Luck follows Tim Beacon, a naïve dentist stuck in a remote mining town, who is desperate to fund his California dream via a sinister plot to profit from the golden teeth of a mysterious patient.
“My background as a historian frequently leads me to be curious about specific passages in history, and I enjoy very much diving into the details of a given period and catching some things to bring back into a fictional story. In Devil’s Luck I picked the worst year of the Great Depression not only due to the social and financial turmoil in the U.S., but also because of the skyrocketed price of gold. This helped me ambush the characters in their personal hell of greed and treason and the main character of Devil’s Luck is a dentist, an ordinary profession nowadays, but a rare one in the 1930s.”
You can read the first issue of Devil’s Luck: A Hailstone Story on December 9, 2025.
