Death Mask gets second volume at Storm King Comics

Press ReleaseBy Press ReleaseMay 8, 20253 Mins Read

    PRESS RELEASE

The fabled endless sunshine of Los Angeles creates deep shadows in which true evil can lurk, as readers will discover this summer when Storm King Comics’ Dark & Twisted imprint unveils DEATH MASK VOLUME 2: ICHOR AZURE, the sequel to the acclaimed thriller Death Mask.

DEATH MASK VOLUME 2: ICHOR AZURE from New York Times bestselling writer Amanda Deibert, illustrator Cat Staggs and co-creator Sandy King — founder and editor of Storm King Comics — debuts July 22 at comic-book stores, online and everywhere books are sold.

In the hills of Los Angeles, a chilling mystery unfolds as an unknown serial killer targets the 20-something children of the Hollywood elite. No nepo-baby influencer is safe. The pressure rises when two young women are kidnapped — and Det. Sonia Maza scrambles to piece together clues before time runs out.

After a fatal mistake, it becomes clear to Det. Maza that there is only one person who can help: another serial killer. Though Maza nearly lost her own life to Alejandra, the killer the world knows as “Death Mask,” she faces her own unresolved trauma and turns to Alejandra — who is uniquely qualified to slip into the mind of a vengeful killer on a “mission,” and to disappear unnoticed into the world of the socialites.

In DEATH MASK VOLUME 2: ICHOR AZURE, the two women must form an uneasy alliance before there are more funerals to livestream. The pulse-pounding crime thriller explores intertwined fates and the complexities of survival, culminating in a tense race against time. Can an unrepentant killer save the day — or will the body count grow higher than the victims’ follower counts?

“We conceived of Detective Maza as something like a female Punisher, so it’s fantastic to bring her back for another story that puts not just one but two anti-heroes front and center,” said Sandy King. “The reception to the first Death Mask was really strong, and for the sequel Amanda and Cat have created a really compelling story with beautiful visuals that makes the perfect ‘summer read’ for anyone who loves graphic novels and dark, unsettling crime stories.”

DEATH MASK VOLUME 2: ICHOR AZURE continues Storm King Comics’ Dark & Twisted imprint, which explores the fearsome creatures that lurk in the shadows of the every day world — and that haunt the human soul. Other books in the Dark & Twisted line include Long Haul, a grisly tale based on the reality of serial-killers that prowl the nation’s loneliest highways; The Killing Hole, a compelling look at an intense friendship gone terribly wrong; and the original Death Mask. All Dark & Twisted titles, and all Storm King Comics graphic novels and comic books, can be found wherever graphic novels are sold, at retail or online.
